Putting the GSDI to WORK
To build in a pragmatic sense on the outcomes of the GSDI policy deliberations and establish an expert group to implement the technical aspects of the GSDI. It is planned that the GSDI Technical Working Group will initially address GSDI Technical Business Principles development, the identification of core common GSDI modules and the development of a common GSDI Glossary .
Co-organised by Steve Blake (AUSLIG) and Doug Nebert (FGDC), the workshop will commence immediately after the close of the GSDI conference and take place on the 19th/20th November 1998 at the AUSLIG Offices in Canberra.
1. Establishment of the GSDI Technical Working Group and a formalisation of membership from the nations involved with hands-on GSDI implementation.
2. Member nations of the Group to identify adequate resources to support at least one SDI officer's involvement to assist with core GSDI module development (approximately $10,000 per annum) over the coming years.
3. Scope core GSDI module development
4. Develop GSDI technical business principles and plan for their dissemination.
5. Commence work on the development of a common GSDI Glossary.
6. Develop a GSDI Technical Working Group work plan for 99/00. The time frame for these Phase 1 start-up activities = December '98 - June '99.

10. Identify "best practices" in each of the areas described in (9), common goals and objectives to use as the primary GSDI TWG focus for 1999 to assist with national SDI Implementations
11. Assign roles and responsibilities for "common module" development
12. Compile work program for 1999/00
13. Modus operandi for the operation of the group (e.g., Establish list-server for out of session work; common GSDI software library etc.)
